Start SuperSync.
If this is the first time you start SuperSync, the folder pair list tree view will be empty.
Click on New Super Sync Folder to create a new folder pair.
A dialog box opens where you can define the settings for the new folder pair.
The key to any folder pair is the folders to be synchronized. There are a left folder and a right
folder entries. You can use the respective Browse buttons to select the folders or simply type
in the text box.
Next you should give the folder pair a name and a category. Folder pairs are grouped in
categories. In other words, a category contains one or more folder pairs.
The Server Name is LOCALHOST by default. This should be fine, as long as both the client
and server components are installed on your machine and the right folder you are
synchronizing with is on your machine or a device attached to your machine (e.g. external
hard disk).
On the other hand, if you are synchronizing a local folder (left folder) with a folder on another
machine (or server), you need to change LOCALHOST to the name of the server. For
example, if the machine name where the right folder sits is "FILESERVER", then LOCALHOST becomes FILESERVER.
The number to the right of the server name is the port number. This is the port number
defined by the system admin for SuperSync on the server you are trying to synchronize your
local folder with. The default should work fine, unless you are instructed otherwise by your
network or systems administrator.
Please check that the port is not blocked by a firewall, otherwise, folder synchronization will
not work.
I highly suggest you check the Backup Deleted? option and enter a value > 1 in the days
field. This function instructs SuperSync to keep a copy of files or folders to be deleted in a
special folder which retains the original directory structure of the files or folders to be deleted.
The Include in Batch Mode? option is used when running SuperSync in a batch mode or in a
script. All folder pairs tagged for batch synchronization will be synchronized without prompting
when a batch script launches SuperSync with a special command parameter.
When you have completed filling the fields in this dialog box, click OK.
SuperSync will prompt you if it finds missing data. Correct and click OK again.
Below is a snapshot with example data.
If your entries were accepted, you should see a new entry in the SuperSync folder list.
Expand by clicking on the + sign next to the TRAINING category.
Selecting the folder pair from the list will display its settings to the right of the list, under
Selected SuperSync Folder.
